Empowerment of Rural Women
Organising women for micro credit activities was the beginning and has continued to this day. More important has been the awareness building and strengthening of community affinity among them. The women who used to be silent spectators of things in their villages have started questioning the men leaders. They are now more conscious of their rights as women and take initiative to exercise them.
This is visible in the context of their struggle against domestic violence. They have supported the victims around them and have started a helpline at Sadhana and have cooperated in rehabilitating some of the victims with help from Sadhana Village. |
