FAQ: Child Sponsorship Project (CSP)

  1. What is the Purpose of CSP?
CSP aims at helping rural poor families in Mulshi Taluka educate and train their children, both girls and boys.

  2. What do the children and families get under CSP?
The sponsored children get services like monitoring of the child's health and educational progress; remedial measures if necessary; clothing and equipment. Talents of the child are fostered through extra-school activities; the family can become a member of Sadhana Self-help Group in the village and get loans from bank.

  3. Do other children in the family too benefit from the CSP?
Though the principal focus is on the sponsored child, the CSP tries to involve the whole family in the development process. There are several other projects with Sadhana Village in which the family can participate.

  4. Tell us more about Sadhana Village
Sadhana Village is a registered (1993) voluntary organization. It runs an innovative residential care Centre for adults with developmental disabilities. It has several projects for rural communities around its Centre. Please visit us at: www.sadhanavillage.org for more information. Its accounts are regularly audited by an independent Chartered Accountant.

  5. How does a person sponsor a child under CSP?
Anyone can sponsor one or more children under CSP by contributing a Sponsorship Fund of either Rs.400/- monthly or Rs.4800/- per child annually. She/he has just to contact us (address below) and our Social Worker will contact the Donor with a form to be filled in and route the contribution.

  6. Can the Sponsor (Donor) meet the child and the rural family?
Sadhana encourages Sponsors (donors) to meet their sponsored children and families.

  7. How are the finances of the CSP handled?
We appeal to Donors to make payments by crossed cheques in the name of Sadhana Village (CSP). The funds go into the dedicated bank account for the purpose. Sponsorship Fund will be used to provide a constellation of services to the child and the family. The families of the children are also asked to open accounts in their names in a bank nearest to them so that Designated Fund and any other special funds could be transferred directly to the families` accounts.
Sadhana Villageretains 15% of the sponsorship funds only as administrative expenses; which include preparing case paper, contacting families, monitoring child’s progress; arranging remedial tuitions if necessary; documentation and contact with Donors, salaries of social workers etc.
The accounts and transactions for the CSP are transparent and the Donors as well as the families are entitled to access them any day. The accounts are audited at the end of the year regularly.

  8. Are there different plans under CSP?
Yes indeed! The donor may pay extra amounts to the child under Designated Fund (DF) For instance, on child’s birthdays; for trips or special needs or gift on Donor’s birthday etc. These go into the families` accounts. Sadhana does NOT deduct any administrative charges on DFs.

Donors may also contribute to the Bridge Fund (BF).  Whenever a donor terminates his sponsorship, we have to get a new sponsor (donor) in his place which may take six months or more. We appeal to Donors to contribute to this Bridge Fund so that we may continue serving the child during the vacuum period. A sizable Bridge Fund helps the stability of the project.
